iXblue Photonics and Photonics Bretagne sign an exclusive distribution agreement for microstructured and multicore fibers

iXblue Photonics and Photonics Bretagne announce the signing of an exclusive worldwide agreement for the distribution by iXblue Photonics of the portfolio fibers produced by Photonics Bretagne (Product line Perfos®). This agreement concerns microstructured fibers (endlessly single-mode, supercontinuum, airclad, hollow core) but also multicore fibers.

This partnership strengthens the existing synergies between iXblue and Photonics Bretagne. It expands iXblue Photonics’ offer, that can now provide its customers with new fibers for a wide range of applications, while allowing Photonics Bretagne to benefit from iXblue Photonics’ network of distributors and sales force to develop its international presence.

Benoit Cadier, Director of iXblue Photonics’ Fiber Division: “We are very pleased with this opportunity to offer our customers these new fibers developed by Photonics Bretagne. We are convinced of microstructured and multicore fibers’ potential. It is a logical evolution of our portfolio. We are pushing the limits of what is accessible with more traditional fiber structures, and new applications can be addressed.”

David Méchin, Director of Photonics Bretagne, confirms: “These latest-generation fibers can be used for new applications in the field of industrial and medical lasers (fiber for supercontinuum source or beam delivery), in the field of sensors (strain/temperature/shape measurement, etc.) and in the field of telecom transmissions (low-latency cable). These developments carried out within our technological platform are thus promoted by one of our historical members. Our goal is to continue our R&D activity in order to initiate future similar agreements and contribute to the development of our members’ business”.

The fibers, stored on iXblue’s logistics platform in Lannion, are available on the e-store and shipped within 3 days anywhere in the world. For any other custom solution in fibers, capillaries or specific studies, Photonics Bretagne remains the preferential contact.

About Photonics Bretagne

Located in a unique French Photonics Park, Photonics Bretagne is a Photonics Innovation Hub which represents photonics in Brittany (France). The association integrates a Business Cluster which gathers 115 members (companies, research centres, schools and support agencies) and a Research and Technology Organisation (RTO) expert in the development of specialty optical fibers, components (product line PERFOS®: microstructured fibers, multicore, few mode, active VLMA, silica capillaries, stress rods, fiber tapers …) and proof of concept in biophotonics. Photonics Bretagne carries out technology transfer, supports innovation and contributes to industrial development of its members and regional SMEs by promoting the integration of photonics technologies in applications sectors (agrifood, agriculture, medical, industry, defence/security…).
