Transdev group collaborates with Esigelec and iXblue in the development of its autonomous technologies

As part of the development of its autonomous technologies – Transportation Technology by Transdev, the Transdev Group is collaborating with Esigelec and iXblue, both partners contributing their know-how.

Esigelec, through its IRSEEM laboratory, conducts applied research with its industrial partners in the field of intelligent and embedded systems. By participating in the international ARGOS robotics competition, the laboratory has developed recognized skills in mobile robotics for complex environments and possesses a technological platform dedicated to autonomous navigation. In connection with the R&D teams at Transdev Autonomous Transport Systems, Esigelec provides – as part of the Rouen Normandy Autonomous Lab – a precise localization solution based on mapping its environment using a 3D lidar.

To validate these developments, Esigelec possesses substantial technical resources including its Atlans navigation and positioning solution. This inertial unit benefits from the FOG (Fiber Optic Gyroscope) technology developed by iXblue and incorporates a very precise GNSS receiver (RTK) developed by Septentrio.

Patricia Villoslada, Transdev’s Director of Autonomous Transport Systems explains: “It is important for Transdev to collaborate with players who have specialized and globally recognized expertise in key areas of autonomous mobility, such as Esigelec and iXblue. We are convinced of the benefits of creating a common R&D project involving a research laboratory, specialized private companies, and our R&D team to develop an innovative autonomous transport system that will ensure the safety of passengers, the quality of service and an optimal customer experience.”

According to Etienne Craye, Director of ESIGELEC: “This collaboration is a perfect match for our research ethos at ESIGELEC, which is oriented towards practical applications. The needs expressed in business drive both fundamental research and its transfer to applied fields. It is in this context that technological innovations and services are developed. We therefore welcome this close collaboration with Transdev and iXblue.”

Fabien Napolitano, CEO of iXblue, says: “We are very proud to be part of this collaboration with Transdev and Esigelec on autonomous transport systems and the mobility of tomorrow. iXblue, which annually devotes 20% of its turnover to R&D, is recognized as a key player in autonomous navigation and is delighted to be taking part in this project that will revolutionize passenger mobility.”
