Forum Subsea Rentals adds more iXBlue systems

Forum Subsea Rentals, the Aberdeen based equipment rental specialist have made a further significant investment in inertial navigation technology from supplier iXBlue. This latest investment makes Forum Subsea Rentals one of the world’s largest stockists of iXBlue products. The equipment is due to be utilised for ROV positioning in survey and construction support applications on major projects worldwide.

DP-PHINS adds to acoustics to place vessel operators in prime position

iXBlue has expanded the functionality of its industry-leading PHINS inertial navigation system (INS). The new DP-PHINS is designed to interface with any third-party acoustic positioning equipment to provide INS-enhanced acoustic data input to marine dynamic positioning (DP) systems. DP-PHINS can also take data from a range of additional sensors, some not normally associated with DP, such as Doppler velocity logs (DVL), for use in maintaining vessel position.

POS-NEOS high-precision, two-axis PAN&TILT systems

iXBlue contracted to supply leading French defense and security company CILAS with POS-NEOS high-precision, two-axis PAN & TILT systems. The POS-NEOS turrets will form an integral part of CILAS’s SLD500-LR sniper detectors, which employ active laser imaging and high-definition camera technology to pinpoint threats at long distances. Hugues Potié, vice president engineering and production, CILAS, said, “iXBlue’s POS-NEOS system provides the accurate motion characteristics, reliability and configurational flexibility essential for this critical application. Through a strong combination of exceptional components, we can provide customers with what we believe is the ultimate sniper detector.”

The end of the 2012-2013 Vendee Globe yacht race

The huge around-the-world yacht race Vendée Globe 2012-2013, taking in Bonne Espérence, Leeuwin and Cape Horn, is coming to a close. Congratulations go to the Frenchman François Gabart, having set out on 10 November last year on the Macif boat, who came in first whilst beating all records. iXBlue took part in the Vendée Globe as a partner of the Cheminées Poujoulat boat, skippered by Bernard Stamm; Bernard didn’t manage to win this time round but our thanks go out to him for wearing our colors and for all the effort he put in. We wish him all the very best for his subsequent marine adventures.
