iXblue are looking for adaptable problem solvers to join our new services and training group. This group is being formed as a part of iXblue’s ongoing commitment to client success with the world renowned offshore positioning and navigation solutions.


We are in a unique position to offer positions that will yield a lifetime of expertise for the applicants in the exciting industrial applications of the world’s Oceans. These applications today are primarily focused on offshore construction in support of the energy needs of human kind.


You will be based out of a location of your choosing, but will be expected to regularly travel to iXblue’s Aberdeen operations facility located in the Bridge of Don.


The primary focus of the role will be representing iXblue on client sites, both onshore and offshore, supporting the equipment in operations all across the globe. You will be comfortable imparting your knowledge of the offshore industry, and iXblue systems in particular, to groups of up to 20 persons.

Daily interactions will be with Aberdeen, Paris, and Brest, and will primarily be technical in nature. Extended interactions with Houston, Rio de Janerio, and Singapore will be likely to occur.


Depending on suitability the candidate will be filling a selection of the job functions listed below.


  • Project Manager
    • Delivery of project plans and active management of client projects
  • Survey Data Processing
    • Use of internal and 3rd party data processing tools to enhance on job reporting and key performance indicators ensuring client’s success with iXblue equipment.
  • Equipment Mobilizer
    • Assist in planning, deployment, installation and verification of iXblue equipment to meet client’s requirements.
  • Equipment Operator – Hydrographic Surveyor
    • Use of iXblue and 3rd party equipment to deliver on client’s needs on job sites.
  • Training Design
    • Refine iXblue’s approach and materials for client training and understanding
    • Deliver introductory training using presentation / workshop / Live equipment use.

Required Qualifications and Skills


Knowledge of INS


Experience using ROVINS and PHINS




Good understanding of the principles of inertial navigation.



Offshore Experience  

At least 5 year experience working on ROV support vessels.




At least 5 year experience working offshore in a survey position.




A good understanding of construction and IRM operations




Acoustic Positioning Knowledge


A good understanding of the theory of acoustic positioning systems.




Experience with industry leading USBL systems


Ability to configure LBL positioning beacons using industry leading software.




Expérience designing large acoustic positioning arrays




BSc or MSc in Hydrographic surveying or equivalent; or




At least 5 years serving or supporting an offshore survey role; or


At least 5 years serving or supporting an offshore ROV role; or


At least 5 years serving in or supporting offshore AUV role;


An ability to clearly communicate both written and verbally




An ability to clearly communicate both written and verbally




Ability to speak in front of groups of up to 10-20 people




English language skills




Administration capabilities


A good working knowledge of Microsoft office suite






Willingness to travel for > 60% of the year




Ability to travel to job sites in <48hrs notice for mission up to 45 days
